Vivitek D5180 Overview

The D5180HD Large Venue Projector from Vivitek is ideal for office, educational or home theater use. The HD in the name stands for full HD resolution. The 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution not only supports 1080p content but is a perfect match for today's widescreen laptops, whether they are Mac or PC.

No matter how you use it the D5180HD packs 4200 lumens of brightness backed with a 2000:1 contrast ratio that displays crisp details even in rooms or installations with high ambient light levels.

The D5180HD uses the latest in DLP technology from Texas Instruments called BrilliantColor. Unlike other technologies such as LCD that use just three primary colors to produce the image, DLP technology with BrilliantColor uses up to six separate colors. BrilliantColor not only improves color accuracy, it brightens secondary colors as well.

The D5180HD has an international auto switching 100 to 240V 50/60Hz power supply. It projects video in the NTSC, PAL and SECAM international video standards and has a multi-language OSD to facilitate operation.

Vivitek has built-in connectivity including HDMI, component video, composite video and S-video. An RJ-45 connector allows control of the projector over a network as well as scheduling maintenance bulletins via email. At only 33dB in economy mode, the D5180HD will not compete with your movie or presentation. As with all DLPs, you'll never have to change a filter either.

Lastly, to make sure that your D5180HD doesn't take unauthorized leave of the premises, security is provided by a Kensington Lock slot and security bar.

The projector offers 4200 lumens of brightness and a 2000:1 contrast ratio
It sports a native resolution of 1080p (1920 x 1080)
It features a centered lens design with a manual lens shift (vertical/horizontal)
The D5180HD comes with a standard zoom lens but optional long-zoom and short-fixed lenses are available to accommodate various environments
DLP technology delivers high contrast ratios and minimizes the gaps between pixels for bright, sharp pictures
BrilliantColor technology uses up to six colors, instead of just the three primary colors, red, green and blue, to improve color accuracy and brightens secondary colors
Connectivity options include HDMI v1.3, VGA-in, component, S-video, composite, DisplayPort, RS-232C, RJ-45 for integration and system administration
DLP technology allows manufacturers to create a filter-free projection design. Filter-free means significant savings and lower maintenance efforts over the projector's lifespan, which means a lower total cost of ownership for the projector
DLP® Technology

DLP® Technology

DLP (Digital Light Processing) is a display technology from Texas Instruments (TI). The technology inside is often referred to as DMD (Digital Micro-Mirrors). It consists of an array of mirrors where each mirror represents a pixel element. For example, a high-definition DLP projector or rear projector with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution would have over 2 million tiny mirrors. Each mirror is attached to an electronically driven hinge that controls the amount of colored light that is reflected from
