In the waning years of the Manchu Dynasty, the Empress Dowager orders the Prime Minister to hold a martial arts tournament with the winner christened the King of the Lions. Wong Fei Hung, martial arts master of the Guangdong province, comes to visit his father who is hurt in one of these mindless fights. Huang appeals to the prime minister in vain. As Wong is famous, local godfather Chao wants his service at the tournament. Wong declines and Chao sends Chit to attack Wong. Huang deliberately loses the fight. Later, Chit breaks his own leg and is discarded by Chao. He is taken in and nursed back to good health by Wong. Chit becomes a friend and ally. Meanwhile, the tournament is declared open. Huang teams up with Chit in dancing the lion ...
